Chip sector begins to grow
Orders for semiconductor-manufacturing equipment rose in October 2001, according to data released by Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International.
The October ratio, which compares the number of orders placed for manufacturing equipment with the amount of orders shipped to customers, beats September's and August's level. In April 2001, the ratio hit its lowest point in 10 years, falling to 0.42, where the value of orders received was not even half that of equipment shipped.
