Advantech has unveiled its smallest computer on module (COM), the SOM-6761 CPU that is 95 x 95 mm and powered by the Atom N270 processor.

The low power rating of the Atom consumes 11 W yet offers full I/O functionality and an integrated graphic engine with multiple display support. The device improves reliability of applications through smart and secure features which monitor CMOS battery voltage and system fan temperatures to prevent overheating.

In addition, the module supports speed step voltage and frequency functions to reduce workload and throttling which lowers power use. The 945GSE chipset with integrated GMA950 graphic engine and DirectX 9.1 supports multiple displays consisting of: VGA, 36-bit LVDS, SDVO and TV-out.

As well as low power mobile applications, the device is suitable for general-purpose applications like: POS/ KIOSK, medical, factory automation, transport, entry-level gaming machines, security and surveillance.

It supports Vista, XP, XPe and CE.

It also supports up to 2 GB of DDR2 memory and comes with full I/O functions: one 10/100/1000 Mbps LAN; three PCle x1 or one PCle x4 (non-LAN); four PCI masters; two SATA ports; eight USB 2.0 ports; HD or AC97 audio interface; one EIDE interface; and 8-bit GPIO.
