Interworld has released the USB-CTR-15 USB digital counter/timer module.

The board is suitable for adding counter/timer capabilities to any computer with a USB port.

The device is compatible with both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 ports and is fully plug-and-play compliant.

The board features five undedicated 82C54 counters, of which 82C54 provide three 16-bit counter/timers. The clock, gate and out signals from all 15 channels are buffered and accessed via a single, 50-pin connector or via the supplied terminal block adapter board.

If required, the counters can be cascaded to provide high-resolution counting. Fused +5 VDC power is available at the output connector, allowing external circuits to be powered.

The fuse is resettable and is rated at 0.5 A. The module can be configured for event counting, frequency measurement, pulse width measurement or frequency generation. In addition, a 10 MHz clock output signal provides a timebase for many applications.

Housed inside a steel powder-coated enclosure with an anti-skid bottom, the device is designed for rugged environments but is small enough to fit onto a desk or testing station.
