The Advanced Power TOPLED Plus is claimed to be the brightest colour LED in its class, providing 15% more light for direct display backlighting than standard similar devices.

Depending on the display, the LEDs in the usual combination of red (623 nm), green (527 nm) and blue (457 nm) cover more than 125% of the NTSC colour gamut and are suitable for all directly backlit displays, particularly for large-format LCDs in sizes of 24" diagonal and up.

This generation of TOPLED Plus offers an optimised display brightness-to-thickness ratio so that the minimum number of LEDs is required.

The improved brightness is made possible by a lens specially designed for backlighting. At an operating current of 100 mA, the LEDs achieve 14 lm (red), 24 lm (green) and 28 mW/sr (blue).

The wider viewing angle of the lens ensures absolutely uniform backlighting. The chips used are 500 µm and are fabricated with the latest ThinGaN or thin film technology.

With a lifetime of more than 50,000 h, the LEDs provide compatibility with typical LCD lifespans. This low profile — 2.25 mm high — enables the design and production of very thin backlights.
