The latest member of the 3U CompactPCI product family for IPv4/v6 communication networks and network-centric applications has been released - the gigabit ethernet switch CP3923.

With up to 16 ports, the fully managed switch is for harsh environments. The target markets include networking, transport, aerospace, military and automation.

It is designed for IPv4/v6 ethernet switching for rugged intra- and inter-system communications. With its implemented embedded network technology, that unifies a wide range of operational interfaces across multiple form factors, the device enables system designers to build new applications most efficiently.

The management capabilities plus configuration services for OEM applications reduce hardware and software design efforts.

The switch is a fully managed Layer 2/3 device offering IPv4 routing, and optional IPv6 routing as well as full management capabilities.

It supports CLI, Telnet, web and SNMP management interfaces to configure the entire set of protocols and parameters including Layer 2 and Layer 3 (IPv4/v6) protocols, multicasting, QoS and security.

For applications requiring higher bandwidth, it also supports link aggregation and maximises the reliability of rugged COTS applications by supporting intelligent platform management and hot-swap capabilities.

The base configuration supports eight GbE ports via RJ45 and eight GbE ports via rear I/O. Two additional versions directly target transport and mobile applications, providing four or eight fast ethernet ports via M12-D connectors.

All versions support eight GbE via rear I/O. To have access to the eight GbE ports routed to the rear, a special rear transition module is available.

The switch is compliant with the EN50155 railway standard with an operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C.
