Vishay has announced a power metal strip resistor that offers 5 W capability in the small 2818 package.

The surface-mount resistor also features low resistance values ranging from 1 to 100 milliohm.

The resistor was designed for use in current-sensing, voltage division and pulse applications. The resistor is intended for use in DC-to-DC conversion and VRMs.

It has low inductance values (<5 nH), good frequency response and low thermal EMF. It is rated for an operating temperature range of -65 to 170°C. The device is RoHS compliant and lead-free, featuring terminals with a 100% matte tin finish over a nickel barrier. The resistor is all welded metal construction and includes a low TCR (<20ppm/°C) nickel-chrome or manganese-copper alloy resistive element.
