LPRS has introduced the MU-2-R, an embedded low-power radio modem, for transmitting serial data at 434 MHz.

The module is controlled by dedicated commands leaving users free to develop the transmitting and receiving programs for their system.

For communication protocols the modem has a standard protocol and a receiver error correction protocol using Reed-Solomon code.

Transmitting and receiving data and issuing commands are through a UART interface and a single-chip CPU. In addition, the module may be controlled via the COM port (RS232C format) of a computer.

A battery-operated 10 mW unit has a range of 600 m or more. If the application requires greater range, the device can be used as a relay station without any additional components. For long-range applications, up to 10 relay stations may be used, making it possible to gather data from and control equipment in remote locations.
