Rugged hardware and services are needed to support the electronic warfare, sonar, combat, data-sharing and other mission capabilities that are so critical to military readiness and mission success. Crystal Group’s RS1.533S18G Rugged 1.5U Server is designed to be effective at fulfilling modern military needs, offering high-performance computing in even extreme operating environments.

The server is a modern, open-architecture system in an all-aluminium chassis with internal cross-braces and stabilised components to withstand high shock and vibration. Flexible and scalable, the unit is designed to meet current and future needs with dual Intel processors, up to 512 GB of DDR4 memory, up to nine removable solid-state disks (SSDs), and USB 3.0, audio and Gigabit LAN interfaces.

The server is a high-performance alternative to the existing combat and electronic warfare server currently being employed in Virginia-class submarines. An immediate drop-in replacement requiring no physical, electrical or software modifications, the device is claimed to deliver greater weapon system availability, better cooling and a smaller integrated logistic support footprint to maintain operational readiness today and in the future.

The product is designed, manufactured and tested to provide a low-risk path for military technology insertion, sustainment and modernisation programs to improve mission uptime and system availability in the field and at the tactical edge. Measuring 45.72 cm deep and weighing 11.34 to 13.6 kg, the rackmount server quickly and easily replaces ageing systems in 1.5/1U configurations.
