ICP Electronics eFIAT series devices

The eFIAT series of low-cost devices for shop floor information systems has been released. The eFIAT series is a compact, easy-to-use data terminal with rich communication functionality and turnkey data reading software.

The device is flexible enough to integrate with AIDC peripherals such as bar-code readers and RFID and other expansion interfaces enabling real-time information transfer over a network.

Among its features are several fail-safes to ensure data collection is consistent and to protect against unexpected system failures and data loss. One fail-safe is auto-switching to battery power (battery pack optional) in the event of power interruption or failure, then automatically reverting to DC when power is restored.

As a safeguard against network failure, the eFIAT-100 shows a warning message but keeps collecting data, which is stored in local memory. As soon as the network is recovered, the stored information is uploaded automatically to the server.

The small size of the eFIAT makes it suitable for applications that link the shop floor to ERP systems with AIDC technologies such as production lines, assembly lines or quality assurance fields where space is limited and a full-sized computer is unnecessary.
