Interface Masters Technologies’ virtual machine-aware Bypass Server adapter family with dual ports 1 Gb Copper Bypass capability supports failover and virtual networking to ensure flexibility of operating systems and applications.
The Niagara 42265-VM supports Virtual Machine control to ensure smooth integration with PCI-express (PCI-e) based Inline Networking Servers that leverage VM capabilities, including WAN acceleration, UTM, SAN/NAS appliances, IPS, security and monitoring appliances such as Firewalls, IDS and analysis probes.
The NIC supports virtual machine software like virtual machines from Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, KVM and Oracle. The Niagara 42265-VM server adapter supports and leverages Intel’s ethernet controller which provides PCI-e 2.0 (5 GT/s) support, low power operation, per packet time-stamping and intelligent queue support (including virtual machine data queues) optimised for multicore processors.
The controller possesses specialised features including a frame size of 9.5 KB, load-balancing of network traffic flow, IPv6 offloading, Receive Side Scaling (RSS), and Direct Cache Access. The Intel controller has broad OS support and certifications including VMware ESX, XEN and Hyper-V.
Niagara 42265-VM provides Passive Bypass which is essential during power loss or software failure, uses low power, provides Link Fault Detection (LFD) support and is RoHS compliant. It handles 2 Gbps traffic load with two RJ45 connectors for 10/100/1000 full- and half-duplex support.
Programmable independent mode allows the Niagara 42265-VM to function as a dual port gigabit copper card with programmable fail-closed or fail-open while in the power-off state.
