Octagon Systems RMB-C2 rugged wireless server

Octagon Systems’ RMB-C2 rugged wireless server for mobile applications is an industrial-grade server designed for applications where severe environments and high performance meet. As a member of the Octagon Systems CORE Systems product line, it tightly integrates the electrical, thermal and mechanical components into a system.

The device can be used as a central server, a stand-alone CPU or a remote terminal. A full complement of I/O ports is provided such as USB, CANbus, VGA, serial, video, audio, odometer and digital I/O ports. Additional functionality can be implemented using PC/104 or mini PCI expansion cards.

The high-end power supply addresses the electrical havoc present in vehicle power systems. It rejects load dumps, repeated transients and excess voltage. The high density extrusion becomes the heatsink for the CPU and other heat-producing components.

Environmental sealing minimises dust and moisture entry. The thermal design and industrial-grade components allow fanless operation over a wide -40 to 75°C temperature range.

The high shock and vibration ratings make the device suitable for mining, transport and military environments. The careful circuit design, component selection, testing and heat dissipation maximise long-term reliability and minimise downtime.
