The Power over Ethernet HAT enables the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ to be powered via an Ethernet cable, removing the need for a separate power supply.

Power over Ethernet helps deliver increased performance for the Raspberry Pi and addresses the needs of the growing professional design market using the board as an embedded device. The HAT is suitable for embedded and IoT projects and further enhances the capabilities of the board.

Key features include: Power over Ethernet 802.3af compliance; Power over Ethernet Boot (PXE Boot); Class 2 device; fully isolated switched-mode power supply (SMPS); 36–56 V input voltage; 5 V output voltage; supplies up to 2.5 A; fan control; plug-and-play compatibility with Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+.

The product requires an 802.3af compliant PoE injector, switch or router device.
