RS Components has announced the SM500F from ABB, a paperless chart recorder and what is claimed to be a world first in field-mountable videographic data recorders.

The device provides four-channel recording and has an enclosure design that enables wall-, pipe- or panel-mounting. The product is also fully FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliant and protected to IP66 and NEMA 4X against water and dust ingress.

Set-up and fine tuning are easy due to concise menus and fully configurable inputs and data is displayed through a variety of formats, including chart, bar graph and digital indicator.

Data processes can be securely logged to a removable SD memory card of up to 2 GB capacity, which also provides support for archiving.

Built-in ethernet communications provide convenient remote monitoring of the process and afford remote access to logged data.

Key features include: unique universal mounting capability; 8 MB internal memory; secure data recording; up to four universal inputs (with one supplied); eight software recording channels; remote access and data retrieval; capability to be installed into the harshest of process environments; 14 cm TFT colour display; six-key tactile operator interface.
