DuPont Zytel HTNFR42G30NH polyamide resin

DuPont Transportation & Advanced Polymers has available the DuPont Zytel HTNFR42G30NH — a non-halogenated, flame-retardant, high-performance, bio-based PPA for SMT (surface mount technology) connectors and a broad range of electrical components. The polyamide resin serves as an attractive alternative to metals, thermosets and other specialty polymers in a wide range of applications.

The material meets the evolving trends for SMT connectors and electrical components, balancing performance, safety and productivity. It is suitable for SMT connectors used in the automotive and electronics industries, as well as for users seeking to replace thermosets in electrical components, such as circuit breakers, with environmentally friendly materials.

The resin offers high weld-line strength that is designed to reduce breakage and rejects; lead-free reflow soldering that shows no blistering at temperatures of 280°C; low injection moulding machine corrosion; and low mould deposits, reducing tool maintenance. It has design flexibility for miniaturisation in electrical components and connectors, such as multipins, fine pitch and low-height connectors.

The product meets the UL 94 V0 flammability rating at 0.4 mm and fulfils the IEC standard by passing most severe glow wire ignition temperature ratings. It offers stable performance in extreme conditions due to its high-melt temperature, low-moisture pickup and relative thermal index at 130°C. It has a high CTI (comparative tracking index) of 600 V.
