Low-leakage filters

Tuesday, 20 October, 2009 | Supplied by: Westek Electronics Pty Ltd

Schaffner has introduced a low-leakage EMC/EMI, single-phase, 240 VAC filter series suitable for applications including medical apparatus, test and measurement devices and IT equipment as well as automation systems.

Using a metal base plate to ensure correct grounding, the rest of the filter housing is constructed from plastic.

The filters comprise Cx (asymmetrical noise attenuation) and Cy (common mode noise rejection) capacitors and balanced core high-impedance inductors for line-conducted noise.

Special ultra-low-leakage filters are available with leakage current at 0.002 mA or less. The standard version of the filters has 0.73 mA leakage whereas the low-leakage version has 0.52 mA leakage. Filters are available in current ranges of 6, 10, 16, and 20 A.
