The Libelium Waspmote is a sensor device for developers. It works on 3G, Wi-Fi, ZigBee, 802.15.4 or Bluetooth Low Energy protocols. The Waspmote radio protocol interfaces can be switched between any two of these technologies as needed.
The product connects to sensor boards for smart cities, smart agriculture, smart metering and other Internet of Things (IoT) applications. There are more than 80 sensors available to choose from measuring CO, CO2, soil moisture, humidity, temperature, vehicle detection, radiation, current, liquid, luminosity and more. A complete open-source IDE (API libraries + compiler) makes it easy to start working with the platform.
The hardware architecture has been specially designed for low power consumption. Digital switches allow turn on and turn off of any of the sensor interfaces and radio modules as well as having three different sleep modes. The Meshlium router for wireless sensor networks is designed to connect the sensors to the internet through either 3G or Ethernet interfaces, sending the information gathered by hundreds of sensor nodes to the cloud.
