Maxim MAX6581 temperature sensor

Maxim has introduced the MAX6581, a ±1°C accurate, 8-channel temperature sensor. It has seven remote-sensing channels to monitor ASICs, FPGAs, CPUs and boards with multiple hot spots.

Each remote channel includes series resistance cancellation and beta compensation for accuracy. Because the device contains eight channels, but requires only a single I2C address, it reduces board area.

The sensor replaces up to eight local sensors or seven single-channel remote sensors and can measure the die temperature of external ICs that have integrated thermal diodes. The device also compensates for parasitic series resistance. Additionally, any of the seven remote channels can be used to measure board temperature using a discrete diode-connected transistor.

It is specified for an operating temperature range of -40 to +125°C.
