Endress+Hauser Waterpilot FMX21 submersible pressure sensor

Friday, 02 July, 2010 | Supplied by: Endress+Hauser Australia Pty Ltd

The Waterpilot FMX21 is a robust submersible pressure sensor for hydrostatic level measurement, in fresh water, wastewater and saltwater.

The 4-20 mA signal with superimposed HART 6.0 output allows the operator to adjust parameters and solve problems remotely either using the company’s Field Xpert PDA configuration tool or via any FDT/DTM-based application like PACTware or FieldCare.

A single range of FMX21 can be configured for different level measurement requirements.

Measured errors of up to 3% arising from fluctuations in the water density due to temperature can automatically be compensated for by using either an optional internal Pt100 temperature sensor, or an external temperature sensor connected to the device in HART burst mode.

For water and wastewater applications the unit has 316L stainless steel housing and carries international drinking water approvals. A PPS-coated version is suited for use in aggressive environments, such as salt water. Potted electronics and a two-filter atmospheric pressure compensation system protect the sensor against water diffusion. Reliability is further enhanced by the flush-mounted ceramic sensor which can be cleaned without the risk of damage or losing calibration.

The IEC Exia certified sensor has a reference accuracy of up to ±0.1% and is suitable for measuring level ranges up to 200 mH2O (20 bar). It comes with a high-resistance polyurethane cable that can be marked at user-specified lengths.
