Epcos has extended its series of ASB1200 gel-protected barometric pressure sensors to include new types that feature calibrated analog interfaces.
At 4 x 4 x 2.5 mm3 they are claimed to be the world’s smallest sensors of their type.
The heart of the ASB1200V1 and ASB1200VR sensors is a piezoresistive sensor chip together with the ASIC. Both types offer integrated signal processing. The ASB1200V1 provides an output voltage of 0 to 1 V, while the ASB1200VR delivers a ratiometric output voltage of 10 to 90% of the operating voltage.
The sensors are designed specifically for low-voltage applications that require pressure measurement in moist media. The sensors are optimised for an absolute pressure measurement of 300 to 1200 mbar and operate with a supply voltage of between 2.7 and 5.5.
Their minimum response time is 1 ms. The package features a gel-protected stainless steel pressure port, which is suitable for integrating into IP54 applications.
The sensors enable a further miniaturisation of barometric applications in devices such as cameras with altimeter functionality, cycling computers, gas analysers and meters, or HVAC systems in buildings.
