Maxim Integrated Santa Cruz ambient light sensor

Thursday, 27 February, 2014 | Supplied by: Avnet Electronics Marketing

Using the Santa Cruz ambient light sensor (ALS) from Maxim Integrated, factories can quickly configure and monitor multiple red, green, blue (RGB) and infrared (IR) ambient light sensors with the accuracy required in industrial applications.

The reference system provides a wide, dynamic range of clear, RGB and IR light, and temperature data. The product is tuned to the response of the human eye for accurate system function relative to visible light. In addition, it has high light sensitivity (a range of 57,542 to 0.001 lux) and low latency.

Features of the sensor include an ultralow-power microcontroller; dual integrated 3.3 and 5 V linear regulators; and programmable flash memory. The integrated IO-Link software and device stack automatically configure the sensor without additional programming, saving time and resources. The product fits on a tiny 6.5 x 25 mm printed circuit board (PCB).
