Narda SignalShark Remote Module

Narda Safety Test Solutions’ SignalShark Remote Module is a real-time remote analyser that detects, analyses, classifies and localises RF signals in the frequency range between 8 kHz and 8 GHz with a high degree of precision. It has been optimised for universal applications requiring efficient, centrally controlled monitoring of systems, the components of which may be spread out over a large area. It solves complex measurement and analysis problems due to its high RF performance (good sensitivity with high immunity to overmodulation), ITU compliance and speed.

Within its 40 MHz real-time bandwidth, the module is capable of detecting even brief pulsed signals with a duration of as little as 3.125 µs with 100% POI (probability of intercept), ie, without any gaps. It can output a 20 MHz stream of I/Q data with full 16-bit resolution compliant with the VITA 49 standard. The scan rate of up to 50 GHz/s in ‘Spectrum Mode’ ensures that signals are rapidly captured, even across large frequency bands. The definitive analysis functions (real-time spectrum, spectrogram and persistence) enable all captured signals to be analysed at a high resolution of both time and frequency.

Four switchable RF inputs allow connection of several directional antennas, or different antennas covering specific frequency ranges, for example. An internal computer, running Windows 10, operates as an evaluation unit that ensures that only processed, or eligible, data is passed back to the control centre. The unit can thus take care of all monitoring tasks on site, but can also be accessed remotely whenever needed. The module can also be operated with an automatic antenna that supports automatic direction-finding and TDoA (time difference of arrival).

Lightweight and with low power consumption, the product is suitable for users who demand high precision for all their RF remote monitoring tasks, both static and mobile. It can be used without restrictions as a freestanding unit, with the USB ports allowing connection of a keyboard and a display. Two modules, each protected by its aluminium casing and weighing just 2.1 kg (single), can also be fitted into any 19″ rack as a double horizontal rack unit (1U high) or one on top of the other (2U high).
