In order to streamline its organisational structure, Royal Philips Electronics has decided to decrease the number of its corporate regions from seven to four. As part of this process the Netherlands region will be integrated in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

Given the position of Philips in the Netherlands, some top-level community relations will be maintained by Philips' Board of Management in the future.

As a result of this streamlining, the function of the Chairman and CEO of the Netherlands region, Mr. Richard J.A. de Lange, will become redundant as of June 1, 2002, but he will remain connected to Philips as an advisor to the Board of Management.
