Ethernet board for GPRS modem

The ethernet board for the Sierra Wireless AirLink FX GPRS modem provides true plug-and-play connectivity to any ethernet-based network. The FSUE04 IESM (internal expansion socket module) ethernet board is available from M2M Connectivity.

The FSUE04 IESM ethernet board (with a 10BaseT RJ45 interface) slots into the Sierra Wireless AirLink FX and can connect remote serial devices to an ethernet network over GPRS. The ethernet/Sierra Wireless AirLink FX bundle can also act as a gateway using wireless GSM to provide primary network connectivity to any ethernet device or small networks of IP devices. Sierra provides a sample IP gateway application for Open AT software suite 2.10.

Other features of the IESM Ethernet FSUE04 include:

  • Internet Plug-In allows automatic connection to the internet thanks to Sierra’s IP connectivity library;
  • DNS client support;
  • DHCP client for automatic configuration or static IP addressing;
  • NAT (network address translation).

Typical applications include remote connection to ATM and POS, for utilities, and in security and other industrial monitoring sectors.
