Dalsa, represented by Adept Electronics Solutions, has released the Spyder GigE line scan camera. The high performance GigE vision interface transfers images directly to host PC memory without a frame grabber, giving you the opportunity to significantly reduce system costs. The Gigabit Ethernet interface also allows for camera-to-PC separation of 100 meters and multicasting to multiple PCs for parallel processing operations.

With three times the responsiveness of its predecessor, the Spyder GigE provides high-speed imaging on moving conveyors and moving objects without the need for very high brightness lighting. At its core is DALSA's latest line scan sensor technology that achieves unprecedented responsiveness and throughput rates of 80 MHz.

The Spyder GigE is fully programmable, offering precise control over key performance variables such as gain and offset. The Spyder GigE QuickCam GUI enables you to quickly configure the camera and begin imaging right away, while the QuickCam SDK allows you to develop your own personalised interface. Performing tasks like flat field correction or setting line rates and exposure modes are a breeze.

Key features of the Spyder GigE camera include:

  • 1k and 2k resolutions, 100% fill factor, 14 µm square pixels
  • Broadband responsiveness up to 408 DN /(nJ/cm2) at 10 dB gain
  • Gigabit Ethernet interface
  • Less than 1% CPU usage
  • Line rates up to 68 kHz are twice as fast as the Spyder2
  • Selectable high or low-sensitivity mode

The Spyder GigE camera is well suited for a range of applications such as mail sorting, wood/tile/steel inspection, 100% print inspection, food inspection, web inspection, container inspection, pick and place, and any application where the object to be imaged moves past the camera.
