Advantech’s ProView SCADA manageable switches are convergence switches for process control and IT networking management.

The switches use Modbus/TCP to communicate with the SCADA software and SNMP to communicate with the NMS (networking management system) simultaneously, thereby allowing full read control over the devices, either for control engineers or for IT. There are eight models in the series being released in the first phase; the EKI-5525/I and EKI-5528/I are 5- and 8-port 100 Mbit switches, and the EKI-5725/I and EKI-5728/I are 5- and 8-port Gbit switches.

The ethernet switches feature a QoS VIP port for deterministic data transmission, allowing the priority ports to prioritise the traffic coming over those ports and delay the less prioritised data over the remaining ports. This is especially useful for high-bandwidth applications, such as video streaming, where latency would cause problems.

Advantech has used high-quality components, enabling the range to operate in temperatures of between -40 and 75°C (EKI-5525I, EKI-5528I, EKI-5725I and EKI-5728I). Furthermore, Level 3 EMS protection is added to repel electromagnetic interface for industrial resistance. This allows the ethernet switches to provide industrial-grade reliability in harsh environments.
