Sierra Wireless AirPrime HL7549 LTE embedded module
The AirPrime HL7549 LTE embedded module, from Sierra Wireless, supports B3 (1800 MHz), B7 (2600 MHz) and B28 (700 MHz) on Australian cellular networks. The device supports LTE Cat 4 aimed at improving network capacity, throughput, data speed and operational cost efficiency.
With peak download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50 Mbps, the product works on the 700 MHz spectrum recently switched on by major carriers. This spectrum is said to offer better coverage and speeds across Australia, cover greater geographical distances and provide better indoor coverage.
The HL Series is claimed to be the smallest module on the market, sharing a common form factor across 2G, 3G and 4G technologies. The user can solder down the modules or use the snap-in-socket to switch HL modules with flexibility in production or product lifetime. A miniPCIe adaptor board with the module fitted is available for those wanting to test LTE Band 28 before moving to a solder down option.
The modules can be managed remotely with the cloud-based M2M platform AirVantage Management Service, enabling device manufacturers to securely upgrade device firmware over the air. They are suitable for M2M applications such as health care, point of sale terminals, consumer electronics, tracking and fleet management.
