ICP Electronics ACT-457A access controller and proximity reader

ICP Electronics has released the ACT-457A all-in-one access controller and proximity reader with Windows CE5.0 pre-installed, enabling easy set-up and programming without an additional on-site computer.

The device has a 5.7″ colour touch display with a resolution of 640 x 480. It includes built-in 2 W speakers, bi-directional microphone and 300 K pixel webcam with low-light capabilities for real-time image capture and facial identification.

The RISC-based EM/Mifare access control terminal, with built-in RFID reader, works with EM or Mifare cards and tags, making it suitable for access control systems in light commercial and small industrial applications.

The RMI Alchemy chip with integrated media acceleration engine allows playback of DVD quality video at full-frame rates with low power consumption. Media including MPEG1/2/4, DivX and WMV9 are all supported and playback at full D1 resolution does not require DSP or specialised coding.

In durable plastic with an IP64-compliant front panel, it has anti-shock/anti-vibration shields and an extended temperature range (-10 ~ 55°C).
