ICP Electronics Australia has released IEI’s IceFire2 10.4″ Mobile Clinical Assistant. Based on the Intel Atom N2800 Dual Core platform and powered by Windows Embedded Standard 7, the compact tablet PC is designed specifically for healthcare environments, to increase medical quality, safety and efficiency.

The product has an integrated 1D/2D barcode reader, RFID reader and digital camera for advanced data acquisition. A built-in fingerprint reader and optional smart card reader provide security and access control, while Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3.75G wireless connectivity provide seamless wireless communication.

The tablet features dual-mode input with digitiser and resistive-touch technologies to ensure accurate computing, as well as a 1.3 MP front camera and 3 MP rear camera for additional data recording. Optional accessories include docking station, smart card reader and leather protective bag with shoulder strap.

In addition to its lightweight design, the tablet features two hot swappable batteries and ergonomic considerations. The device allows healthcare professionals to provide real-time point-of-care treatment for both indoor and outdoor medical cases.
