The Intel Q57-based industrial-grade mATX motherboard has been released.

The AIMB-580 features two chip solutions for power management savings to increase energy efficiency, PCIe Gen 2 for GFX add-on card support, high-bandwidth DDR3 memory support and vPro technology with AMT6.0 for remote management in a low-power design.

Connectivity with up to 10 USB 2.0 and four COM ports (three RS232, one RS232/422/485 with auto-flow control support) is integrated in a standard 244 x 244 mm mATX form. The board also supports dual display for DVI + CRT.

The two-chip solution for Core i7/i5/i3/Pentium processors has an integrated graphic and memory controller for power management savings and increased energy efficiency.

The traditional northbridge/southbridge configuration is replaced by integration of the processor and northbridge on the same chip. The front side bus (FSB) between the processor and the northbridge chip is replaced by flexible display interface (FDI) and direct media interface (DMI) between the processor and PCH.

This architecture also reduces board design complexity and increases reliability.

The board supports several multi-core processors including Core 2 duo and Core 2 quad. The processors are 45 and 32 nm, second-generation Hi-K process CPUs. They have smart technologies, turbo boost and hyperthreading and smart security (AMT 6.0) to guard against virus and prevent data loss or theft.

The processors also come with HD graphics with the graphics engine integrated into the processor. The integrated graphics controller includes dynamic video memory technology and clear video technology for advanced media capabilities.

With an integrated Extreme GFX controller, the motherboard features integrated 3D graphics and video capability with 1 GB maximum shared memory with 2 GB and above system memory installed.

The board supports dual display with a choice of display types: VGA + DVI. It also supports mirror, spanned and independent modes for these display types. Video output is complemented by HD audio.

Operating system options include: Windows XP, Windows 7, Linux, Red Hat Fedora Core 11, SUSE X86 Enterprise Desktop 10 SP2.
