Maxim MAX17117 notebook LCD panels
Maxim has introduced the MAX17117, a power solution for gate-on-array notebook LCD panels.
This fully integrated device includes a seven-channel, high-voltage scan driver for the TFT panel gate drivers; a MOSFET boost converter for AVDD supply; a 350 mA LDO; and a high-speed operational amplifier for LCD backplane bias - all in a 25 mm2 TQFN.
High-voltage BiCMOS enables the integration of scan drivers with the LCD power supply to save space and cost in ultra-slim notebook computers. Additionally, the scan driver features an innovative gate-shading function to drive the GOA panel while lowering overall power consumption.
The integrated MOSFET boost converter reduces overall BOM cost by eliminating the need for an external MOSFET. The high-current op-amp offers fast slew rates (40 V/µs, typ) and a high bandwidth (16 MHz), making it suitable for driving the LCD backplane. The seven scan driver outputs swing 40 V (max) between +35 V (max) and -15 V (min) to swiftly drive the gate capacitance of the LCD backplane.
