The Ostar Compact high-current LED offers more light output and is accommodated in the same package as the previous version.
Small projectors can be designed for more brightness without increasing their size. Instead of 4 A, the LED can now be pulsed with 6 A and it achieves 350 lm in amber, 600 in green and 165 in blue in pulsed mode (typically 120 Hz, 2 ms, Ts= 25°C). Thanks to a new package material, its thermal resistance has been reduced to 3 k/W compared with 6 k/W of the old version.
The enhanced performance of the device is achieved by a 2 mm2 chip that benefits from improved epitaxy processes and from a more even power distribution via additional bond wires.
