u-blox ODIN-W2 multiradio module for IoT applications
The u-blox ODIN-W2 module is a compact yet powerful stand-alone multiradio module supporting dual-mode Bluetooth v4.0 (classic Bluetooth and Bluetooth low energy), plus dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and full 5 GHz band).
The unit is suitable for IoT applications including smart energy, healthcare, manufacturing and telematics. The product is complete with embedded driver, stack and application for wireless data transfer and AT-command configuration.
The module can be used as a point-to-multipoint serial cable replacement. It supports concurrent Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections that can operate in Wireless Multidrop or Extended Data Mode for advanced multipoint capabilities. It can also be used in applications where a smartphone, tablet or laptop is to connect to a serial device such as a programmable logic controller (PLC).
Module firmware extensions that will be available include micro Access Point; high-speed interfaces like RMII; and support for custom embedded applications. Using Bluetooth low energy, the module will also be able to access any Bluetooth Smart device that implements services based on the Generic Attribute Profile (GATT), such as a low-energy battery service or an automation I/O service.
