M2M Connectivity has announced the Sierra Wireless MC8792V embedded module for 900 MHz 3G/HSPA networks.
The MC8792V is the first Sierra Wireless embedded module to offer 900 MHz frequency band support. It offers tri-band HSPA/UMTS (900, 1900, and 2100 MHz) and quad-band support for GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks to provide new and existing OEM customers the ability to expand their product offering for mobile networks rolling out 900 MHz 3G/HSPA.
The module includes GPS support and enables hardware devices to function as powerful communications tools with simultaneous voice and data capabilities. It supports peak data speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps on the downlink and 2.0 Mbps on the uplink. For developers wanting to build products for 900 MHz and 850 MHz 3G/HSPA networks the MC8790V and MC8792V are interchangeable with no engineering effort required.
Samples of the MC8792V will be available to developers to start integration and testing in October and volume shipments are expected to begin by Q1 2009.
