austriamicrosystems has launched the AS1344 high-voltage DC-DC boost converter optimised for biasing photodiodes, LCD or PMOLED displays powered from single-cell batteries.

At 15 V output it delivers 120 mA from 3 V or 28 mA from a 1.5 V input and operates from a single 0.9 to 3.6 V supply to provide adjustable output voltages from 5.5 to 42.

The 1 MHz fixed switching frequency minimises the PCB footprint by allowing the use of low-profile inductors and capacitors.

An automatic power save improves the efficiency at light loads and micro-power design reduces operating supply current to 22 µA.

A 1 uA shutdown mode combined with an output disconnect feature reduces PCB space and BOM in applications such as PMOLED or e-link displays, where disconnect is required for optimal operation and reduced consumption.

It offers a user-adjustable, soft-start feature to limit the input current during start-up.
