austriamicrosystems AS3676 lighting management unit
austriamicrosystems has announced the AS3676, an integrated lighting management unit with ambient light sensing and dynamic luminance scaling.
The chip integrates 13 current sinks, a step-up DC-DC converter and high-power charge pump, an analog-to-digital converter and a programmable low drop-out regulator - all incorporated with algorithms for high-efficiency display and keypad backlight, ‘funlight’, ‘smartlight’ and other portable illumination and indication effects.
The device expands the companyÂ’s mobile LMU portfolio and provides a high level of integration. It enables the smallest PCB.
The integration of the main illumination features facilitates controlling all mobile lighting with a single chip, simplifying hardware and software development time. It is suitable for several portable consumer electronic products, including mobile phones, mobile TVs, mobile DVD players, mobile GPS devices and MP3 players.
