austriamicrosystems has launched the EasyPoint blog, to discuss solutions, issues and trends for joystick modules for a wide range of products such as mobile phones, game consoles, remote controls, portable navigation devices and digital still cameras.

The company’s rotary encoders are claimed to be more accurate than optical-based sensors and, with EasyPoint, the company will extend its focus to joystick modules. EasyPoint consists of a mechanical stack incorporating a navigation knob and a magnet and a two-dimensional encoder that includes a contactless sensing IC.

Its simple construction and contactless sensing technology give the module high reliability and is designed for any kind of 360° navigation input device.
