High brightness LEDs

Avago Technologies has added half-watt cool white and warm white LEDs to its series of Moonstone power devices.

Available in a thin package, the ASMT-Mx60 provides solid-state lighting designers with a package that provides high brightness and easy installation.

The LED is suitable for applications that require ultra-high-brightness, such as electronic sign backlighting, retail displays, commercial lighting and accent marker lights.

These cool white and warm white LEDs can also be used in applications such as task and reading lights.

It delivers 30 lm (typical) and up to 43 lm cool white light output at 150 mA and can withstand a high maximum allowable junction temperature (up to 145 °C). With an exposed pad design, it has a wide 110° viewing angle, smooth radiation pattern and heat transfer from the package to the motherboard to enable the LED to be driven at 150 mA.

The series has a robust electrostatic discharge (ESD) resistance of 16 kV (HBM) and provides designers with an electrically neutral heat sink pad feature option which enables easier thermal management and handling of LED arrays on a common substrate.

The ASMT-Mx60 cool white LED is available in various colour temperatures ranging from 4000 to 10,000 K, while the warm white LED has colour temperatures ranging from 2600 to 4000 K.
