Industrial ethernet switch

The latest in Advantech's range of industrial ethernet switches, the EKI-6538, is now available.

The device is equipped with eight 10/100Base-Tx ethernet ports and an array of network management functions designed to be used in industrial networks.

To maximise network performance, it supports various network traffic management functions to optimise the use of bandwidth.

The switch also offers high-security features to protect the network from unauthorised access.

The device supports quality of service for prioritising network traffic, port trunk for aggregating bandwidths and port mirroring for packet analysis and monitoring. With efficient traffic control and network management, it can optimise the bandwidth usage over the network.

The switch provides robust security to empower network shielding. It supports IEEE 802.1Q tagged virtual LAN (VLAN) to group network clients beyond the limitation of physical connections, and will improve network security by confining intra-group traffic to their segments.

It also supports secure gate controls to deny unauthorised MAC access and built-in onboard digital input/outputs that can be used for field security and alarm connections.

The device provides quick and easy field diagnosis and troubleshooting. Engineers can press the self-diagnosis button on the top of the unit to verify the hardware status of each ethernet port automatically and diagnose the status of switches within seconds.

It is built with 4000 VDC ESD protection to ethernet ports and 3000 VDC surge protection to power inputs. The enclosure is rated to IP30.
