International Rectifier SBB point-of-load voltage regulator series

International Rectifier has introduced the SBB series of non-isolated, radiation-hardened point-of-load voltage regulators, designed to maximise efficiency in space applications including satellites requiring long mission life up to 15 years or 100 Krads of total ionising.

The series delivers high efficiency of up to 89%, allowing the use of a smaller heatsink to reduce size and weight. The devices, suitable for designs using new digital signal processors, ASIC and FPGA technologies, feature 30 W output or output current of 14 A.

Standard outputs of 1.0, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.5 and 3.3 V can each be adjusted to ±10% of a nominal output for precise setting. Integrated input and output filters are also featured to ensure low noise for stand-alone operation without the need for external filters.

The series was developed using space-level design that includes the company’s discrete-based PWM controller and components with known radiation performance fully derated to the requirements of MIL-STD-1547.
