Linear Technology H- and MP-grade versions of LT3757 and LT3758 DC/DC controllers

Linear Technology has announced the H- and MP-grade versions of the LT3757 and LT3758 wide input range DC/DC controllers for boost, flyback, SEPIC and inverting power supply applications. They are capable of generating either a positive or negative regulated output voltage with a single device by having two internal voltage feedback error amplifiers and reference voltages, and have operating junction temperature ranges from -40 to 150°C and -55 to 125°C.

The LT3757 operates with an input voltage ranging from 2.9 to 40 and the LT3758 operates over a 5.5 to 100 input voltage range. The devices achieve efficiencies up to 96%, making them suitable for industrial, motor vehicle, military and telecom applications.

With a programmable fixed or synchronisable operating frequency from 100 kHz to 1 MHz, designers can choose a range of inductors and capacitors. The fixed frequency, current mode control results in stable operation over a range of supply and output voltages and its all-ceramic capacitor design enables a smaller solution size. Additional features include programmable soft-start, input undervoltage lockout, output overvoltage and overcurrent protection.

Both grades are available in the thermally enhanced MSOP-10 package.

Other features include: it is synchronisable to an external clock; and an integrated low-side driver and low shutdown current of <1 µA.
