Metromatics WOLF 3U VPX GPU embedded computing module

Metromatics has released the WOLF VPX3U-AD5000E-CX7-optical high-performance embedded computing (HPEC) module to customers across Australia and New Zealand.

Designed for defence, aerospace and other mission-critical embedded applications, the rugged 3U VPX module combines an NVIDIA RTX 5000E embedded GPU with an NVIDIA ConnectX-7 SmartNIC to deliver accelerated artificial intelligence (AI), sensor processing and high-bandwidth optical networking within a compact SOSA-aligned platform.

The embedded computing module integrates advanced GPU processing with dual 40/100GbE optical fabric interfaces, reducing data movement bottlenecks between sensors, processors and storage.

Powered by NVIDIA’s Ada architecture, the module features 9728 CUDA cores, 304 fourth-generation Tensor Cores and 76 third-generation RT Cores, supported by 16 GB ECC GDDR6 memory. The platform supports CUDA Toolkit 12, CUDA-X AI and CUDA-X HPEC libraries, enabling developers to accelerate AI inferencing, machine learning, high-performance embedded computing, image processing and sensor fusion applications.

Designed for deployment in demanding military environments, the conduction-cooled module operates from -40 to +70°C as standard, with operational capability up to +85°C. The design supports SOSA Aligned Payload Profile 14.6.11 with dual optical fabric connectivity and incorporates an onboard IPMI controller for system management together with hardware encryption features and secure networking capabilities.

The embedded computing module is designed for a range of applications, including C5ISR processing platforms, radar and electronic warfare systems, and high-speed optical networking and data acquisition systems.
