Network server

Kontron has unveiled the IP network server NSN2U, a 2U rackmount server for IP network applications, supporting the latest micro architecture within the Xeon Processor 5500 series.

The chassis design combines extensive network port density, huge processor performance and additional features in a package, suitable for network data applications with intense I/O and compute performance requirements.

Using the capabilities of the 5500 platform, the server features the processor series with an integrated memory controller, Intel quickpath technology, turbo boost technology, next-generation virtualisation and hyper-threading.

It provides support for the latest technologies and industry standards including PCI-E Gen 2, power management capabilities via IPMI and directed I/O virtualisation technology.

It also includes hot-swap, redundant fans for greater up-time and improved serviceability.

Increased memory and storage capacity are now possible with 12 slots for DDR3 RDIMM/UDIMM memory (96 GB maximum) and support of up to eight hot-swap 2.5" SAS/SATA hard disk drives, which can enable greater HW RAID options and flexibility for fine tuning to optimised safety and transfer rates.

The server has a 3-5 year extended life cycle, dual-redundant AC or DC power and high I/O density.
