NXP Semiconductors S32K ISELED-enabled microcontrollers
NXP Semiconductors has released its S32K ISELED-enabled microcontrollers. Part of NXP’s family of S32K automotive-qualified microcontrollers, the S32K ISELED-enabled devices offer the same feature set, but add the ISELED communication protocol. ISELED is an open alliance dedicated to providing next-generation smart LED lighting technology specifically geared towards automotive and industrial applications.
The ISELED protocol avoids external processes and ensures well-balanced light parameters with tight calibration and good processing control for RGB LEDs. The microcontrollers provide the 32-bit Arm Cortex-based processing power and access to this ISELED ecosystem to offer a complete hardware and software solution that enables engineers to create the dynamic sequences and light parameters demanded by next-generation smart LED lighting applications.
The automotive-qualified microcontrollers feature either an Arm Cortex-M0+ core (S32K11x families) or an Arm Cortex-M4F core (S32K14x families) that include a production licence and a dedicated driver to run the ISELED serial communication protocol. The ISELED software driver runs within the production-grade SDK included in the S32 Design Studio IDE or in the AUTOSAR environment. Each microcontroller can serve as a single external master controller within the ISELED ecosystem due to its robust feature set and high-performance processing capabilities.
