Panasonic Toughpad FZ-Q2 semi-rugged 2-in-1 detachable tablet PC

Panasonic has released the Toughpad FZ-Q2, a 2-in-1 convertible tablet designed to offer mobile workers tablet and notebook functionality in a lightweight but durable business device. The semi-rugged device is suitable for users who require a business-ready tablet that can still withstand light outside duties.

With its magnesium alloy cabinet casing, the device is able to withstand drops of up to 76 cm and has an optional spill-proof keyboard, yet remains lightweight and slim (1.93 kg and 43 mm thick with keyboard, 1.09 kg and 22 mm thick without). A 9 h battery life provides extended use across the entire working day.

The high-resolution anti-reflective display is suitable for workers needing a clear view of detailed technical data or forms, and for those wanting to show high-quality images or presentations to potential clients. The 12.5″ Full HD display is a 10-finger capacitive IPS multitouch screen and is supplied with a capacitive pen. For communication and image capture there is a 2 MP webcam with stereo microphone and 8 MP documentation rear camera. The optional, detachable full-size backlit keyboard is suitable for heavy-data entry tasks.

Built to handle powerful business applications, the tablet has an Intel 6th generation CPU with Intel HD Graphics 515. It comes with a Windows 10 Pro operating system, downgradable to Windows 7 if required, a 128 GB solid-state drive with 256 GB as a factory option and 4 GB of RAM (8 GB factory option, project based). It has a wide range of business ports, including USB 3.0, HDMI, LAN and True Serial for connection to a number of systems and devices, and there is also a 4G LTE option for connectivity when on the move.

The tablet is suitable for production line managers, fitters and mechanics in manufacturing, field service engineers and telecommunications technicians, and customer-facing sales staff in retail. The unit can also be safely sanitised with a disinfectant solution for health or food services or inspection applications.
