Quake Q9612 Iridium satellite modem

The Quake Q9612 iridium satellite transceiver combines the global coverage of the Iridium satellite network, which incorporates 66 low-earth-orbit satellites, with the low latency of the Iridium short burst data (SBD) service.

Typical global latency of the Q9612 is less than 30 seconds, making it appropriate for routine communications and for utilisation in information-critical applications where delays in communication are unacceptable, such as those involving safety and emergency situations.

The modem is contained within a small footprint package measuring 109 x 64 x 19 mm and is designed to optimise two-way data links. The module has 9-18 V power conditioning, can be installed directly onto a 12 V vehicle and is interfaced with an RS232 serial port. The modem is programmable through an AT command set interface.
