The latest generation of AC/DC drivers is available from Recom. The devices can be dimmed linearly without flicker from 100% to zero. The RACT20 family is equipped with a specially developed triac input which is unaffected by the power factor controller (PFC) circuit of the driver. This makes it suitable for many LED systems.
Triac dimmers were originally designed to dim incandescent lamps and their use in LED systems often causes unwanted visible flicker due to phase modulation. This prevents linear dimming of LEDS to zero.
The drivers are available with either 230 VAC or 115 VAC input. They offer 20 W rating and can support 5-15 power LEDS or LED chains with constant current outputs of 350, 500, 700 or 1050 mA and a PF >95%. They are class IP20 and suited for indoor applications.
