The RGB MicroSideled from Osram Opto Semiconductors features an ultra-slim design and delivers high brightness for in-coupling into light guides designed for backlighting in space-sensitive applications.
The device is 0.6 mm high for use in side in-coupling light guides used to backlight very thin displays such as mobile phones and laptop LCDs.
Featuring three individual colour chips, the device is claimed to offer the highest colour gamut in the industry, delivering more than 100% of NTSC on screen, depending on the used LCD.
It is suitable for applications where extremely vivid colours are preferred such as mobile phones, laptops, navigation systems and microdisplays. It also features a high-efficiency green delivering 1000 mcd at 20 mA with a power efficiency of 50 lm/W.
Each chip has its own thermal contact lead and the LEDs can be driven in series for greater freedom in electrical design.
