Toshiba TLP223GA and TLP223J photorelays

Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage has launched two photorelays, the TLP223GA and TLP223J, with OFF-state output terminal voltage ratings of 400 and 600 V, respectively. Both devices feature low input power and good switching characteristics, and are housed in a DIP4 package.

The products come with a high luminous efficiency LED developed by Toshiba and have a maximum trigger LED current of 2 mA; this is about 33% lower than the company’s current products and enables low input power. Faster operation is meanwhile secured by lower switching characteristics (turn-on time, turn-off time): 50% for the TLP223GA and 75% for the TLP223J.

The maximum operating temperature ratings have been extended from 85 to 110°C, making the products suitable for use in equipment installed outdoors such as smart meters. A maximum isolation voltage of 5000 V_rms allows use in equipment requiring high isolation performance. Example applications include security systems, industrial equipment and building automation systems, as well as the replacement of mechanical relays.
