Toshiba TLP223GA and TLP223J photorelays

Tuesday, 25 January, 2022 | Supplied by: Toshiba (Australia) Pty Ltd

Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage has launched two photorelays, the TLP223GA and TLP223J, with OFF-state output terminal voltage ratings of 400 and 600 V, respectively. Both devices feature low input power and good switching characteristics, and are housed in a DIP4 package.

The products come with a high luminous efficiency LED developed by Toshiba and have a maximum trigger LED current of 2 mA; this is about 33% lower than the company’s current products and enables low input power. Faster operation is meanwhile secured by lower switching characteristics (turn-on time, turn-off time): 50% for the TLP223GA and 75% for the TLP223J.

The maximum operating temperature ratings have been extended from 85 to 110°C, making the products suitable for use in equipment installed outdoors such as smart meters. A maximum isolation voltage of 5000 Vrms allows use in equipment requiring high isolation performance. Example applications include security systems, industrial equipment and building automation systems, as well as the replacement of mechanical relays.
