Vishay polypropylene film capacitor

Vishay has announced a high-performance metallised AC polypropylene film capacitor featuring a wide capacitance range from 1 to 70 µF, long life of >60,000 h and voltage ratings up to 350. A 440 V version is under development.

With its long life and available 230, 250, 275, 310 and 350 voltage ratings, the capacitor is optimised for AC filtering in UPS systems, power supplies, inverter grid interface and welding equipment.

The device will typically be used in output filters and tuned LC and LCL circuits to mitigate undesirable frequencies and harmonics.

It features capacitance tolerance down to ±5%, low self-inductance of <1 nH per mm of lead spacing, high peak current capabilities up to 750 A and high RMS current up to 32 A.

Additionally, it uses segmented film technology for increased safety, in compliance with the UL810 standard.

Offered in a flame-retardant plastic case with a resin seal, the robust device features a high operating temperature to +105ºC and is compliant to RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC.
