Vishay RCG e3 ‘green’ thick film rectangular chip resistor

Friday, 29 April, 2011 | Supplied by: Braemac Pty Ltd

Vishay has introduced what it claims is the industry’s first green, RoHS-compliant (without any exemptions) thick film rectangular chip resistor.

Offering a lead-free body with pure tin solder contacts and a metal glaze on a high-quality ceramic, the RCG e3 is AEC-Q200 qualified and provides stability of 1% for 1000 hours at +70°C in three case sizes.

Currently, Exemption #5 in the RoHS compliance procedure allows for lead (Pb) in the resistor body. However, to provide an environmental protection level above the current RoHS requirements, designers need to use green, RoHS-compliant products without any exemption.

Available in the 0603, 0805 and 1206 case sizes, the device offers TCR of ±100 ppm/K and ±200 ppm/K, a resistance range from 1Ω to 10 MΩ and 0Ω jumper and resistance tolerance of ±1% and ±5%. The device features rated power dissipation from 0.100 to 0.250 W and an operating voltage range of 75 to 200.
